Dear Friend

I had an argument with you about a military discipline, Obey First Before You Complain,  and you feel you need to follow this in doing your job and decision making procedures due to the fact which i myself cannot deny that our Boss on most cases acts like a dictator.

Well, I admit that my military knowledge is very limited but this discipline is applicable only for them considering of course the chain of command they follow where most of the time only the high ranking military officials know what the war strategy. It is therefore critically confidential to be able to triumph and keep it secret among few therefore everybody else just have to put their trust with their commanding officers believing that they have something planned for the best outcome.

We, on the other hand, are not in the military sense of discipline and that we are in a very different world of business and ethics. We are indeed expatriates working in a foreign land under our foreign bosses which might limit our actions thinking that we are just working for them and we have to obey their commands whatever it may be. My friend, I believe that there are laws in this land, human rights protection and justice that exists regardless of race. Should you then follow whatever he might command you even though you know it's wrong, without raising a complaint?

I remembered a very wise man said,

"All that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing" -Edmund Burke

Clearly, it is only by doing nothing at all that he would not change his ways. You always have a choice to speak up and fight for what you stand for. A man will never change his habit which he believes true unless another truth is presented to him that may oppose what he knew was correct. He might not listen at the first few tries but after all even inventors fail on their initial attempts. Thomas Edison for instance failed a thousand times before finally succeeding in making the light bulb.

This is not a unique situation where you face a dilemma but rather it is very common to everyone's daily life and what will distinguish you from the others is the courage to stand up to something you believe is right and face any consequences that may burden you thereafter without any regrets.

So i would ask you again, Is this military discipline applicable to the office or even in the bigger picture, Politics?

Sincerely,

Tisoy

Dear Mr. Know It All

I just want to tell you that it is alright to not know everything and it will not make you look dumb or stupid. We are all students until the day our lives will go to somewhere not of this world. Information is so vast. We cannot learn all the knowledge this world can offer but we can try and have to educate ourselves as much as possible in all aspects of life.

The Prophet, peace be upon him, has said in an authentic narration, "Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim" (Al-Tirmidhi)

You can seek knowledge in a lot of different ways and A friend can be one of them. It might be hard for you to accept the fact that someone knows something that you do not know but you know what? It does not mean that he is more knowledgeable than you. Guess what? He probably doesn't know a lot of things too that you may have knowledge of.

Egotism is a negative trait that will make you look too proud and arrogant. You have to distance yourself from it.

It is written in the Holy Quran 7:12, Satan said: "I am better than him; You created me from fire, and you created him from dust."

You have the tendency to believe that what you know is the only fact there is and ignore anything other than what you believe is correct like how Satan reacted. You on the other hand should be humble enough to accept and learn ideas and insights from other people and thank them for sharing their thoughts.

If you have any disagreement with anything then maybe you have to try saying it in an effective and polite way. In the Holy Quran 17:53, "and tell my servants that they  should speak (only) what is best (ahsan-kind). Surely Satan stirs up trouble among them. The fact is that Satan is an open enemy among them."

Sincerely,

Tisoy

Religion: Which one is true?

We are living in a world of too many religions and there are even some who don't believe in having one...

Try asking yourselves why your religion is Islam? Roman Catholic? Hinduism? Buddhism? and a lot more to mention. Is it not because both your parents are having the same religion? That you were baptized when you were unable to decide for yourself on such beliefs? and you grew up practicing what you were told to do and  never ever asked why you did it?

We my friends are created by GOD (sorry for the atheists but i believe in God) as rational beings which means that he gave us the ability to think and reason on whatever it is that needs clarifications. Did you ever wonder why the creator gave you a brain so powerful compared to that of an animal? You my friends are very lucky for such a gift from the almighty.

If you're old enough to decide for yourself then i strongly believe you are also mature enough to learn more about your religion first and then try to completely educate yourself about other religions afterwards. I believe TRUTH is only one and it will only come out naturally if you open your minds and hearts to the possibility of change.

Let us say for example that you grew up knowing that a child is conceived when two people of opposite genders kiss? (Which is my truth by the way when i was young..haha) and then when you went to a biology class a certain person comes in front of your class saying that what you believe in was wrong and a DIFFERENT process should be done so that a child can be conceived, would you be rational enough to believe your biology professor? or will you stick to what you grew up with?

We criticize religions by what we hear from the news or read from papers and articles without even knowing the truth behind it. It is like as if a civil engineer is badmouthing a medical doctor after an unsuccessful medical procedure of a surgeon after watching it over a news without even having complete knowledge of such case.

I agree that all religions teach good deeds and prohibit the opposite but my dear friends we only have one life and there is only ONE TRUE RELIGION out there so i challenge each and everyone of you to look for it and try living up to the expectations on how God created you, A Rational Being.

A Stubborn Friend

First thing in the morning, we talked about an Indian colleague who likes to meddle in all the things he observes and thinks he knows better. He might just be only an ordinary guy but for the record he learned a lot through experience from what i have learned for more than a year i have known him. This is not the first time he initiated a very hard situation where he almost had a fist fight with some Filipino contractors and in fact he already have been beaten up by his fellow Indian guy due to a small issue that he himself aggravated last week.

Nowadays, the problem is we think in a way that all things we might have in mind are the only ones that are true and correct and we would want to share it with others but the way we relay it to them will be very critical as to how they will react and accept it. In many cases due to upbringing and influences with factors such as culture, family, friends and formal education,  we tend to get excited because maybe we get this feeling that if we correct someone for their mistakes we feel superior over them and we actually react on the matter directly without assessing the situation first. This actions may harm us in a lot of different ways.

Pride and arrogance can also be a main player here since the truth is we all have it somewhere beneath us and denying it will only aggregate and worsen it. Living in a foreign land where a very diverse culture is present, we would want to show other nationalities that we are better than them. I remembered a verse in the Holy Quran and i quote,

The prophet muhammad, peace be upon him, has said: "He who is humble for the sake of Allah by a degree, Allah will elevate him one degree, until he reaches the highest degrees and he who is arrogant toward Allah, Allah will lower him one degree until he reaches the lowest of low degrees" (Sahih Bukhari)

The key to living a happy life is HUMILITY. We all have to eliminate our pride and arrogance thereby looking at anyone as equals, giving the benefit of the doubt that everyone is peaceful in nature.  We should not surrender to anger but instead with humility, we have to try understanding each other as well as start talking to everyone in a very polite manner in whatever the mood of the situation may be.

Start with yourself and it will spread so fast like that of  a virus outbreak and in no time we will be living in a peaceful earth. Amen.

A Good Influence

I am not a hardcore blogger nor do i have a background in journalism so please bear with me in anything i might post in the coming days (if there be any)...

I actually was introduced by my colleague in making blogs and he was actually doing it for economical reasons and i wasn't so interested when he was educating me at that time. Days or maybe months passed and i watched a video of a very religious man preaching about using the internet through our electronic devices in a good way that will make us a blessing to others and using it to influence them towards goodness. By doing so, In God's grace, maybe people may change their ways and with our own little ways we can help spread peace to the world.

So i guess this blog will be a tool for anything and everything under the sun that i might be interested in sharing to the world that i believe will make a positive impact on whatever it is that i might be blogging.

'till next time. bye.
